Beware of the tourist trap! The food was very bad (Wiener schnitzel with fried potatoes) and completely overpriced! Never again .
MoreGastronomic business characterized by tourism. Staff is not rude, but not friendly either, prices are high, quality food and drinks okay. Here you can tell that the restaurant doesn't have to work hard thanks to tourism and the constant flow of new guests.
MoreFood is good but overrated. Schäufele is just a Kassler.
nice food and staff, quite pricey for what you get
Atmospheric, cozy and good to drink. As expected at a prime location, it was expensive and to our surprise it was not possible to pay by card for small amounts. Staff were quick but not very friendly or helpful.
MoreThey offer a vegan option if you ask kindly. Also german beer is vegan. Atmosphere is rathet old school german, as is the cuisine. Maybe more suited for tourists who want a hofbräuhaus experience.
MoreFood a disaster and completely overpriced. There is obviously a lack of specialist staff here. Sat in the beer garden when it started to rain, no reaction from the Service staff. Only when requested by the guests the umbrellas open. It is a pity that I cannot give a recommendation despite the beautiful ambience.
MoreCame here recently with my wife and a friend to meet up while we were in town. I was drawn to here as a dinner option because of the schweinshaxe, one of my all-time favorite German dishes. It did not disappoint! Surprisingly, I didn’t have the usual heavy feeling you usually get after tackling such a big meal (not to mention the liter of beer it was accompanied by). As far as flavor goes, it was normal good brewery-style food. Not outstanding, but perfect for the cool, rainy day we were having. The waiter was very patient with us as we were catching up while trying to decide what to order and perhaps coming across as indecisive! The beer was probably my favorite part. I don’t know if it was the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic had prevented me from traveling and visiting authentic German brewery restaurants or what, but it was so crisp and refreshing. If nothing else, come here for a good beer. The environment felt very local and traditional. Didn’t notice any other tourists. Overall a very good local pub experience!
MoreThe beer was great. Food was also very good and above all you could get a second helping. The staff was very nice and relatively quick. I also liked the fact that you could eat directly with a view of the Freiburg Cathedral.
MoreCorona does not seem to exist here. No disinfection of the tables or chairs. Food Food is ok.
MoreWe were here with 20 people for a small celebration. First class service. The food was awesome. Fresh and regional. The ambience and location right next to the pattern are breathtaking. Gladly again at any time. :-)
MoreVery disappointing experience. Only advantage is great location. Highly overpriced for low food and drinks quality as well as very moderate service. Were not able to drink “the best” red wine for 7€ per glass (served straight into glasses without even seeing a bottle the wine came from). Ordered mixed meat meal for 2 people for 48€ and 80% of it was simply not eatable (knife cannot even cut it, too much fat, not chewable, either too much fat or to the opposite the meat and sausages are very dry). Not recommending at all.
MoreBad food & expensive. Probably you rely on tourists who you won't see again anyway ... a shame Freiburg ... The bottom of the leek cake was really muddy, didn't get any better after we asked for new food (microwave food) Fried potatoes for the Schäufele very bad. Rest of the food moderate.
MoreYesterday evening as a "guest" in the Ganter ... prices for the Münsterplatz already very self-confident. My knuckle (€ 18.50) without a crispy part and with two small potato dumplings, probably from the package, risotto with chanterelles (€ 18.90) served as a portion for a child - cheek for the high price. My tip: Freiburg has much better to offer!
MoreOn a very hot day, we arrived here after the bustle of lunch and wanted to relax a bit. The location with a view of the market and cathedral are great. The staff is also extremely friendly and very accommodating. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was not up to the requirements of the location. The Black Forest cake is ok, but what is this mirror made of indefinable liqueur, nobody needs. Unfortunately the veal sausages were totally too salty. I have never eaten veal sausages that are so salted. The sweet mustard had to cover it up as well as possible, but good is different - sorry.
MoreVery tasty, friendly service and there is a supplement if you like it ;-) 1 star extra.
MoreWorst service in town. Said exactly two words in the whole time we sat here. Prices are not cheap either. Seats aren't comfortable. No reason to sit here at all
MoreVery unfriendly staff, you are looked at as if you are disturbing them during their work. Hello, I am the customer! It also apparently bothered that we wanted more than just a drink as the ordered Kuchen never came. There was nothing but annoyance to a questioning look. Then no longer waited - and oh miracle, the bill did show the Kuchen. Not paid of course. Incidentally, the bill for drinking alone was bizarrely high (€ 4.90 for a Coke). Not recommended.
MoreGreat location, but that`s it. Prices too high, service more than low. Very unfriendly waiter. Food average.
MoreThe Restaurant Ganter Brauereiausschank is located at Münsterplatz 18 in Friborg, Germany, offers a spacious, pleasant, cozy and well-decorated environment and offers an excellent menu of typical German food of excellent quality and at very suitable prices. The place has outdoor tables, the service is quick and attentive and the house offers a good menu of drinks, draft beer and beers.
MoreThe context of a hugely touristic location should be considered when reading the review. It's expensive for what or is, but is located right in the busiest and most 'desirable' part of town. Prices and service reflect that. However, pretty good on the whole. Service was quick and efficient. Food was better than the location might suggest. It was actually very good on the day. You could do a lot worse than stop by here when visiting the city of Freiburg.
MoreFood and beverages at inflated prices (Ganther's triple is about 3-4 euros higher than comparable restaurants, wheat is about 1 euro more expensive at a price of 5.50 euros, the price of the cappuccino is almost Swiss level). This can not only be explained by the good location and therefore higher lease costs, and based on the many other bad reviews, I doubt the upscale cuisine. On the second visit I was greeted by the waiter and then forgotten. I left after 15 minutes. Maybe a place for tourists, but no longer a place for me!
MoreAs always great staff. The food was not as tasty as usual, my veal fillet could have been a little like the asparagus. But the beer was delicious and it was fun to sit outside.
MoreGreat food and beer
Friendly service
Very expensive beer
the food was wonderful!!! and the waitresses were very nice!! and had dirndels on which was cute
MoreGood local food and a must go if you are not familiar with this food
Nice location in the center of Freiburg beneath the big Church. The food was very good and had good prices. The service was fast and nice! And the beer is very good (specially the dark hefe and the urtrunk), but you can also order a beer meter with 5 different 0,2l tastings for 2 (or more) people..
MoreTouristy but tasty
Atmosphere is great, food was OK
Authentic, traditional food, with a menu big enough to meet all tastes. Friendly service. Great setting and decor. Recommend reserving or you won't get a table.
MoreFood was fine, nothing special. Service was again okay, but very short and to the point. Relatively pricey as well. Amazing view of the church though!
MoreFirst dinner in Germany and it was, um, AWESOME. But I love good sausage. Great (essentially unbelievable) spot next to the cathedral.
MoreThe service is ok, a little slow, but ok. The place is great, just under the cathedral and by the rathaus. The prices are high, which is understandable, except for the water, 5.60€ for 0,5l of still water?!?!
Morebeer soup is too salty
Bad service (ordered diet Coke got regular coke). Expensive. Your run of the mill tourist trap.
MoreExpensive, however this you can expect at this location. The fact that your change is considered a tip by default doesn’t make any sense. Wouldn’t recommend
MoreThe beer and sausage plates are awesome!
Ridiculous prices. Horrible staff.
Very good meal
Top
beautiful setting. Great waitresses and waiter and super nice. card in several languages and delicious meal. very well served and a memorable taste. to do absolutely
Moregander
Delicious potato salad
Too expensive, local good food, average service.
Really big church with interesting history
Everytime a pleasure to eat and drink here. Tasty, well-tried dishes prepared by spendery, attentive staff, finely cooked, beautifully presented in a friendly way! Thanks to the whole team!
MoreNice place located in the main square of Freiburg, practically at the foot of the cathedral. Good thing and the availability of the menu in other languages. Selection of various really excellent beers. The dishes served are those typical of German cuisine. Generous portions and fair prices. Staff polite but perhaps a bit cold.
MoreGreat Wiener schnitzel, good beer and great views - recommended
